KOH WAEN

Journey time: 45minutes, distance 37km (speed boat)

Suitable: Advanced level (AOWD required)

Maximum depth: 30m allowed for recreational divers

Koh Waen is located south from Koh Lanta. The dive site is most known for its exciting underwater train station, an artificial man-made reef, that was deliberately sank by the Thai Authority in April 2015. As a wreck dive, an advanced level and experience in diving is required to visit the site.

The underwater station includes many railway tracks and railway cars as well as a locomotive covered in corals. Here you can find schools of snappers and barracudas swimming around the tracks as well as nudibranchs hiding in the small cracks. In addition to this, Koh Waen also offers wall diving, caves and swim-throughs to explore.
