HIN BIDA DIVING
Hin Bida is a shallow rocky reef between Koh Lanta and the Phi Phi Islands, known for its underwater formations, sandy areas and leopard shark sightings. With much of the diving at shallower depths, Hin Bida can suit newer divers as well as experienced divers looking to spend time exploring the reef and looking for marine life.

Diving in Hin Bida
Hin Bida, also called the Phi Phi Islands Shark Point, is a submerged rocky reef located about 8 kilometers southeast of Koh Bida Nok and Koh Bida Nai. The reef has several rocky fingers extending into the surrounding sandy bottom, creating a mix of shallow reef, channels, rocky formations and sandy areas to explore.
The dive site is relatively shallow, offering plenty to see without needing to dive deep. The sandy areas around the reef are particularly worth exploring, as this is where leopard sharks are often found resting.
The site is suitable for different levels of divers. As the site is a submerged reef in an exposed location, conditions can vary from day to day, including currents that can range from mild to stronger. Whether Hin Bida is visited depends on the conditions of the day.
Marine Life at Hin Bida
Hin Bida is best known for leopard sharks that can be seen on the sandy areas around the reef. These slow-moving sharks are usually seen in the shallower sections, making Hin Bida a popular site for divers who enjoy shark encounters and underwater photography.
The rocky formations and sandy areas provide different places to look for marine life. Divers can look out for cuttlefish, moray eels, octopus, different schools of reef fish such as snappers, and smaller reef species hiding among the rocks and coral. Depending on the conditions, you may also encounter turtles and rays passing through the reef.
Who Can Join to Hin Bida?
Hin Bida is suitable for all levels of divers, from beginners to experienced recreational divers. The shallow areas can work well for divers who are gaining confidence underwater, while the different rock formations give more experienced divers plenty to explore.
Snorkelers can also enjoy the area when conditions are suitable and surface conditions are calm.
A Day Trip to Hin Bida From Koh Lanta
Join us for a day of diving in Hin Bida. Our day trip includes two dives, with equipment, hotel transfers (between Saladan and Klong Nin, with Sri Lanta Resort being the last stop), breakfast, drinks, fruit and lunch provided. After the dives, we return to Koh Lanta around midday.
Depending on the day's itinerary, Hin Bida is normally combined with another dive site in the Phi Phi area such as Koh Bidas.The exact dive sites are planned according to sea conditions and the experience of the divers on board.
