We offer three ways to experience scuba diving, depending on how much time you have and whether you'd like to start in the pool before heading out to sea.

Pool Session 1.5-hour — 1700 THB

A relaxed introduction to scuba diving in the pool. You'll learn the basics of using scuba equipment, breathing underwater and moving comfortably in the water, with an instructor guiding you throughout the session.

Pool Session + Ocean Dives — 6500 THB

2-day program

  • Day 1: pool session

  • Day 2: ocean dives

Start with a 1.5-hour pool session on Day 1, where you'll learn the basics and become familiar with your equipment. On Day 2, you'll head out to the ocean for two guided scuba dives.

This option gives you more time to become comfortable with scuba diving before jumping to the ocean.

What Is Discover Scuba Diving?

Discover Scuba Diving is an opportunity to experience scuba diving for the first time, without committing to a full course. No previous scuba diving experience is required.

At OK Club, our Discover Scuba Diving experience is offered through the SSI Basic Diver program. Before your first dive, an SSI Instructor will introduce you to the scuba equipment, explain the basics of diving and demonstrate the essential skills.

The program includes two guided dives in the local sites of Ko Haa or Ko Bidas. You will perform those essential skills in the shallow water, before you start your first dive. You will then have the opportunity to explore the underwater world with your instructor, in maximum of 12 meters deep.

Basic Diver is an introductory experience to scuba diving, not a scuba certification. If you already know that you want to become a certified diver, our Open Water Diver Course is the next step. You can also talk to our team about the possibility to try scuba diving at first and after combine this first day experience with the actual Open Water Diver Course.

Who Is Discover Scuba Diving For?

Discover Scuba Diving is for anyone (10 years or older) who wants to experience scuba diving for the first time. You don't need previous diving experience or a scuba certification but you need to be medically fit to dive.

It can be a good choice if you:

  • are interested about scuba diving and want to see if it's right for you

  • want to try diving before committing to a full course

  • have limited time but still want to go diving

  • are visiting Koh Lanta and want to explore the underwater world

Your instructor will be with you throughout the experience, explaining each step and helping you get comfortable in the water. You'll learn how to use the equipment, move and breathe underwater.

What Can You See While Diving in Koh Lanta?

The underwater world of Ko Haa and Ko Bidas are home to a wide variety of marine life, from colourful reef fish and corals to smaller creatures.

You may see sea stars, anemonefish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, moray eels, reef octopus, nudibranchs, shrimp and other creatures living around the reefs.

Larger marine life can sometimes be seen too, including reef sharks and turtles. Encounters are never guaranteed, but every dive offers something different to discover.

What Do I Need to Try Scuba Diving?

  • No previous diving experience required

  • MEDICAL FORM: It is important to know about any medical conditions you might have that might put you at risk underwater. Please carefully read the Diver Participant Medical Questionnaire to make sure you are fit to dive. If you answer any of the questions YES, we require a doctor’s certificate that states you are medically fit to scuba dive.

Discover Scuba Diving or Open Water Diver Course?

Both are ways to start your scuba diving journey, but they have different goals.

Discover Scuba Diving gives you the opportunity to experience scuba diving without taking a full course. You'll learn the basics and dive with an instructor, making it a good option if you want to try diving and see how you feel underwater.

Open Water Diver is a complete course where you can get certified (when earned). You'll spend more time learning diving theory and developing your practical skills through training dives, preparing you to continue diving as an autonomous diver.
